Privacy and terms for the BigCommerce apps

This page covers Free Shipping Bar, Countdown Timer and Reviews Showcase, which merchants install on their BigCommerce stores (see the apps). “You” here means the merchant who installs an app.

What the apps store

• When you install an app: your store’s ID (store hash), the access token and permissions BigCommerce gives the app, the BigCommerce user ID of the person who installed it, the install date, and the ID of the storefront script the app adds.
• Your settings: what you save in the app, such as your free shipping amount, messages, colors and placements, your countdown campaigns, dates and promo codes, or the Google business and reviews page you choose.
• Reviews Showcase only: a copy of your approved product reviews (the reviewer’s display name, rating, title, text and date, and the product’s name, link and image), refreshed every few hours so your storefront loads quickly. Reviewer email addresses are never kept. Google reviews come from Google’s Places API and are kept only in memory, for up to 12 hours, as Google’s terms require.
• Free Shipping Bar asks BigCommerce for two permissions: to manage storefront scripts, and to read store settings (read-only), so it can use your store’s currencies and exchange rates. Countdown Timer asks only to manage storefront scripts. Reviews Showcase asks to manage storefront scripts, to manage web pages (to create your reviews page) and to read products (to read your product reviews). None of the apps can read your orders or customers.
• Server logs: our app server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, time and address requested) for security and troubleshooting. They are rotated and deleted on a regular schedule.

On your storefront

• Each app adds one script to your storefront. It loads your saved settings from our server and shows the bar, timer or popup.
• Free Shipping Bar reads the cart total from BigCommerce in the shopper’s browser to work out how much is left. The cart is never sent to our server.
• Countdown Timer remembers in the shopper’s browser storage whether they closed the bar or have already seen the popup, so it doesn’t show again too often. This is never sent to us.
• Reviews Showcase loads your reviews from our server: the same reviews already public on your store and on Google. Google reviewers’ profile photos load from Google.
• The apps set no cookies and collect no information about the shoppers browsing your store.

When you uninstall

• BigCommerce removes the app’s storefront script automatically.
• We delete everything the app stored for your store: the access token, your settings and the install details, and for Reviews Showcase the copy of your product reviews.
• The reviews page Reviews Showcase created stays on your store, because BigCommerce removes the app’s access before telling us about the uninstall. Delete it in Storefront → Web Pages if you no longer want it.

We do not sell or share store data, and we do not use it for anything except running the app for your store.

Terms for the BigCommerce apps

By installing an app you agree to these terms.

• The apps display messages and reviews on your storefront. They do not change prices, shipping or checkout. You are responsible for setting up the matching free shipping rule and coupon codes in BigCommerce, and for the offers you promote.
• The apps are provided as they are, without warranty. Check how they look on your theme before relying on them.
• Paid plans and their prices are shown on each app’s BigCommerce App Marketplace listing. You can stop using an app at any time by uninstalling it.
• We may update the apps or these terms; the date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
